A Kintsugi Faith

A broken bowl with cracks mended with gold, held in the palm of a hand

Kintsugi is the Japanese art of mending broken pottery with gold, highlighting the flaws and imperfections and in the process creating an even more beautiful piece of art. My own faith was shattered when my eldest child died. Slowly, it has been rebuilt with those cracks forming a big part of what it now is. It is a kintsugi faith – flawed and damaged, but hopefully reflecting God’s love in a new and beautiful way.
